Pisa to host public forum on Santa Chiara urban regeneration
The City of Pisa has announced a public conference scheduled for November 20 at the Auditorium Toniolo to discuss the future of the Santa Chiara area. This project is considered one of the city’s most significant urban regeneration initiatives, focusing on the recovery and enhancement of the former hospital complex located near the Piazza dei Miracoli.
Mayor Michele Conti stated that the initiative aims to bring together key stakeholders, including university rectors, representatives from the Pisan Hospital-University Agency (AOUP), and the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani. The goal is to update the recovery plan and outline the transformation of this prestigious historic center area over the coming years.
Conti noted that recent efforts have already improved urban quality in surrounding areas, such as Larco Cocco Griffi and Piazza Manin, in alignment with UNESCO management plans. He emphasized that the Santa Chiara recovery represents a historic opportunity for the city.
