Pita Putih Indonesia launches mobile mammography in West Jakarta

The community organization Pita Putih Indonesia (PPI) has launched a mobile mammography service in West Jakarta to provide early breast cancer detection. The initiative, held at the West Jakarta Administrative Mayor's Office, aims to address the high incidence of breast cancer in Indonesia, which recorded over 66,000 cases in 2022 according to Globocan data.

Medical professionals emphasize that early detection is critical because breast cancer often lacks clear symptoms in its initial stages. Screening methods such as mammography and breast ultrasound (USG) are vital tools for identifying abnormalities before lumps or physical symptoms appear. Doctors recommend regular screenings based on age and risk factors to improve treatment success rates, noting that many patients only seek medical attention once the disease has reached an advanced stage.
