Pitas ADUN Ruddy Awah and family convert to Islam

Datuk Seri Ruddy Awah, the Pitas State Assemblyman (ADUN) and Sabah Assistant Minister for Works, Roads, and Utilities, has officially converted to Islam along with his wife, Datin Seri Asiah Udin, and their child.

The ceremony took place at their residence in Kampung Salimpodon Laut, Pitas, where the family recited the two kalimah syahadah. The proceedings were led by the Sabah State Mufti, Datuk Bungsu Aziz Jaafar, and attended by several high-ranking officials, including Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and the Sabah State Secretary.

Ruddy Awah stated that the decision followed a decade-long spiritual journey to understand Islam and was made out of sincere conviction rather than for worldly gain or status. He expressed a desire to further study the religion under the guidance of religious teachers and plans to perform umrah with his family next year.
