Pitbull Attack Injures Two Children in Ankara, Owner Released Under Judicial Control

In the Etimesgut district of Ankara, a pitbull owned by Tuğçe Ö. E. attacked siblings Doğa (5) and Efe (1.5), causing deep bite wounds. Bystanders intervened and the children were taken to Bilkent City Hospital for treatment. The dog was seized by municipal services and placed in a shelter.

The owner was detained and charged with "reckless endangerment causing injury to multiple persons," facing up to three years in prison. During the court hearing, a judge ordered her release under strict judicial‑control conditions. Tuğçe Ö. E. expressed remorse, claiming the dog had never previously shown aggressive behavior and that the incident was unforeseen.

The case highlights concerns about keeping large, un‑muzzled dogs without leashes in residential buildings and the legal consequences for owners when such animals attack minors.
