A separate case in Mercedes, Argentina, resulted in a civil court ordering the owners of three dogs to pay nearly 4.7 million pesos plus interest to a woman injured when a stray dog bit her thigh while she rode a motorcycle. The judgment highlighted the owners’ failure to keep the animals confined and noted permanent injury to the victim.

In Caracas, Venezuela, a poodle called Rayo was killed on 2 June after a pitbull named Zeus, kept outside without muzzle or leash, attacked the dog as the owner walked past the house.
