Pitești authorities issue waste sorting and container usage guidelines

Waste management authorities in Pitești have issued instructions regarding the correct use of underground waste containers and the proper sorting of recyclable materials. To operate the underground containers, users must either press the pedal located at the bottom right or use the handle on the top of the lid.

Authorities have emphasized that abandoning waste next to the containers is strictly prohibited and subject to fines. To facilitate recycling, residents are instructed to sort waste into specific color-coded containers:

• Blue: Paper and cardboard (e.g., food packaging, shoe boxes, detergent boxes, and printed paper). Items should be torn or pressed to save space. • Yellow: Plastic and metal (e.g., PET bottles, plastic bags, aluminum cans, and metal jar lids). • Green: Glass (e.g., beverage bottles and jars). Glass should be rinsed and free of grease or metal lids. • Brown: Biodegradable waste (e.g., fruit and vegetable scraps, bread, coffee grounds, and eggshells). • Black/Grey: Residual waste (e.g., meat, fish, and dairy remains).
