Timisoara hosts Beta Architecture Biennial with 40 international projects

The sixth edition of the Beta Architecture Biennial opens in Timisoara, running from September 4 to October 25, 2026. Under the theme ‘In Practice – as opposed to ‘in theory’, the event features over 40 projects from participants representing 15 countries.

Curated by architects Andreas Kofler and Tudor Vlasceanu, the biennial utilizes the former Ion Mincu High School building near the Botanical Park as both an exhibition space and a subject of transformation. The projects focus on architecture as a process of experimentation and negotiation, testing spatial interventions and scenarios for the building's future through the use of recycled materials, rainwater collection, and vegetation.

In other cultural news, Pitești hosted the sixth edition of the ‘IconArT’ workshop, where over 40 children aged 8 to 16 learned traditional glass icon painting under the guidance of professional artists. Additionally, the National Village Museum in Bucharest is preparing for the 25th annual Iconographers and Cross-Makers Fair, scheduled for September 11–13, which celebrates traditional craftsmanship and religious art.
