Pitești student attacks classmates with machete

A 15-year-old student at the Armand Călinescu Technical College in Pitești has been placed under 30-day house arrest following an attack on two classmates with a machete. The incident occurred in a school restroom during a break, resulting in one student suffering a forearm wound that required medical suturing.

Investigations and statements from the student's family suggest the attack was a reaction to ongoing bullying. The family claims the teenager had been subjected to physical aggression, mockery, and humiliation, including the use of AI-generated false images, since the beginning of the school year. School officials noted that the student had previously been considered well-behaved and had not caused prior issues.

In response to the incident and a recent knife attack in Bistrița, the Romanian government has announced a rapid response mechanism to improve school security and intervention efficiency. Two provisional protection orders have been issued for the minor victims.
