Pitești water network suffers 20+ damages after pumping station failure

Electrical failures at the Războieni Pumping Station in Pitești have caused widespread damage to the local water supply network. During the night of August 27 to 28, repeated voltage drops and fluctuations caused automation equipment to burn out.

This malfunction forced pumps into an imposed pressure regime, creating a water hammer effect that resulted in over 20 damages across the distribution system. Affected areas include the Războieni, Craiovei, Banat, and Exercițiu neighborhoods, as well as the Prundu plateau.

Apă Canal 2000 SA reported that repair teams have been working continuously since August 28 to locate and fix the leaks. The company is also working to replace the damaged electrical and automation components to restore normal automatic operations.
