Pitigliano celebrates wine history with new book launch

Professor Angelo Biondi will present his new book, “La vite, i vignaioli e il vino nel territorio del ‘Bianco di Pitigliano’. Una cultura antica,” on September 4 in Pitigliano. The publication is part of the ongoing celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the Bianco di Pitigliano DOC.

The book provides a historical research study into the long-standing relationship between viticulture, the landscape, and the local communities within the Città del Tufo region. While the DOC designation was officially recognized in 1966—making it one of the first in Italy—Biondi’s work highlights that the region's wine-making traditions and cultural roots extend back many millennia.

The presentation event, held as part of the “Settembre di Vino” initiative, will include institutional greetings from local mayors and regional officials, alongside leaders from the Cantina di Pitigliano and the Consorzio di Tutela dei vini DOC Bianco di Pitigliano e Sovana.
