Pitso Mosimane announces new Bafana Bafana squad and schedule

New Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has announced a 35-man preliminary squad, signaling a transition for the South African national team. While Mosimane intends to build upon the foundation laid by former coach Hugo Broos, his selection includes several new faces such as Puso Dithejane, Shandre Campbell, Cemran Dansin, Lebone Seema, and Ronaldo van Neel, alongside the return of Luther Singh, Lebohang Maboe, and Cassius Mailula.

Mosimane stated that while the World Cup core remains important, injuries and emerging talent necessitated changes. He plans to use upcoming fixtures to provide opportunities to players who have previously lacked game time.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed the schedule for this new era, beginning with a match against Guinea. Following that, the team will travel to Egypt for a match against Eritrea at Al-Salam Stadium on September 30, followed by an international friendly against Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium on October 4.
