Pitso Mosimane names Bafana Bafana squad for Afcon qualifiers

Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has announced a 30-man squad for the upcoming Afcon qualifiers, marking his return to the national team role. The squad includes several veteran players Mosimane has previously coached, such as Themba Zwane, Ronwen Williams, Lebohang Maboe, and Thapelo Morena, alongside new faces like Puso Dithejane and Luther Singh.

Addressing the selection of 37-year-old midfielder Themba Zwane, Mosimane defended the decision by emphasizing the importance of leadership and mentorship. Despite Zwane's reduced playing time at the club level with Mamelodi Sundowns, Mosimane noted that his experience is vital for guiding younger players through the unique demands of international football.

The coach's first match for the qualifiers will take place at the renovated Orlando Stadium in Soweto. Mosimane noted the sentimental value of returning to the venue where his senior football career began, while also citing logistical advantages for the team's subsequent travel to Eritrea.
