Pitso Mosimane prioritizes tough friendlies for Bafana Bafana

South African national team coach Pitso Mosimane has expressed his intention to schedule challenging friendly matches against Africa’s top-tier teams rather than seeking easier victories to build confidence. Reflecting on his previous tenure, Mosimane noted that while playing against heavyweights like Ivory Coast, Zambia, and Ghana resulted in draws, he believes testing the squad against elite opposition is necessary for proper preparation.

In related squad developments, Mosimane praised Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cassius Mailula following his return to the national team. Mailula, who had previously struggled for game time while playing in the MLS, has been included in the 30-man squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Guinea and Eritrea, as well as a friendly match against Egypt.
