Pitt men’s soccer defeats Cal for first ACC win and Vidovich’s 100th victory

The Pitt men’s soccer team secured its first ACC victory of the season with a 2-1 win against California at Edwards Stadium. The victory marked the first time the Panthers have defeated Cal in program history.

Head coach Jay Vidovich reached a milestone during the match, earning his 100th win at the helm of the Pitt program. Albert Thorsen scored the decisive goal in the 48th minute following an assist from Miguel Bertran. Earlier in the match, a deflected shot following a play by Cannon Scretchen gave Pitt an initial lead. Despite Cal outshooting Pitt 9-5, goalkeeper Jack Moxom recorded three key saves to protect the lead.
