Pitti Uomo 2026 opens in Florence amid modest industry decline

The 110th edition of Pitti Uomo opened at Florence's Fortezza da Basso and will run until 19 June 2026. Over 740 brands from more than 30 countries, representing 44 % foreign participation, are exhibiting at the world's leading men’s fashion trade fair.

Confindustria Moda reports that Italy’s men’s fashion sector contracted 2.2 % in 2025, with total revenue falling to about €11.2 billion. Leather goods were the sole growth segment, up 4.9 %, while shirts, outerwear knits, ties and outerwear saw declines. Exports slipped 1.7 % to €8.7 billion, imports rose 1.8 % to €5.4 billion, with EU exports up 3 % and non‑EU exports down 5.7 %.

The event marked the first under the new Pitti Immagine board, with Ivano Cauli appointed CEO. Organisers highlighted the fashion ecosystem, sustainability and new initiatives such as the AI matchmaking platform “Hyperscout”. The 2026 Pitti Immagine Uomo award was given to the shoe brand DOUCAL’S for sustainable craftsmanship. International participants included Korea’s JiyongKim and Japanese brands such as Tsuchiya Kaban Seisakusho, J∞QUALITY and the debut of the Japan‑origin label KAVKI.

Regional president Eugenio Giani and Confindustria Moda chairman Luca Sburlati expressed confidence in the sector’s future, emphasizing its economic importance and the need to support talent, ideas and supply‑chain resilience.
