Pittsburgh hosts Irish and Jazz cultural festivals

Pittsburgh is hosting several cultural events, including the 35th Annual Pittsburgh Irish Festival and celebrations for the 16th annual International Jazz Festival.

The Pittsburgh Irish Festival takes place from Friday through Sunday at the Carrie Blast Furnaces National Historic Landmark. The event features four stages of entertainment, including Grammy winners, local Irish dance groups, and solo performers such as Celtic harpist Dennis Doyle. A fifth stage will host demonstrations by professional and amateur chefs and bakers.

In support of the International Jazz Festival, Pittsburgh International Airport will host “JazzPort,” a five-day series of free jazz performances. The airport will feature twice-daily shows in both the airside and landside terminals. The broader jazz festival is scheduled for September 17 through 20 in the city's Cultural District, organized in partnership with the August Wilson African American Cultural Center.
