Pittsburgh Penguins face Nashville Predators amid roster changes

The Pittsburgh Penguins are set to host the Nashville Predators for a Saturday matchup following several roster adjustments. Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin is scheduled to be scratched for the game due to illness, marking the first game he has missed this season. To fill the vacancy, the team has recalled forward Avery Hayes from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

In related roster moves, defenseman Sam Girard has been placed on injured reserve due to a suspected right arm injury. Goaltender Arturs Silovs is expected to start in net for Pittsburgh.

The Nashville Predators enter the contest following a significant 6-0 shutout loss to the Boston Bruins. Predators coach Andrew Brunette characterized the recent performance as the team’s “worst effort of the year by far.”
