Pittsburgh Penguins rely on young goaltenders for upcoming season

Šilovs, who earned MVP honors during a successful AHL campaign and a 2025 Calder Cup win, has played 58 NHL games with a .885 career save percentage. The team has provided him with a one-year, $2.8 million contract to facilitate his development. Meanwhile, the readiness of Sergei Murashov for NHL primetime is considered a critical factor for the team's success.

While the Penguins' roster features established stars such as Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Erik Karlsson, their ability to compete for a postseason spot depends heavily on whether these young goaltenders can provide consistent, high-level performance.
