Pittsburgh Pirates lose 4-2 to Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field

The Pittsburgh Pirates were shut out offensively and fell 4-2 to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night at American Family Field. Starting pitcher Jared Jones, making his first start of August, allowed three runs on eight hits over five innings. The Brewers responded with home runs from Jackson Chourio, who went 3‑for‑4 with a homer, two RBI and a run, and Andrew Vaughn, who added a solo shot.

Pirates manager Don Kelly was ejected in the fourth inning by home‑plate umpire James Hoye, marking his sixth ejection of the season, the most in MLB. Outfielder Esmerlyn Valdez, the July Rookie of the Month, went 0‑for‑4 with four strikeouts. The loss follows the Pirates’ recent roster moves, including the activation of right‑handers Luke Weaver, Kirby Yates and Lake Bachar, and the optioning of Noah Murdock and Brandon Eisert to Triple‑A Indianapolis.
