Pittsburgh Pirates put catcher Endy Rodriguez on injured list

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed 26‑year‑old catcher Endy Rodriguez on the 10‑day injured list with a left glute strain, retroactive to July 6. In 35 games since his promotion in May, Rodriguez was hitting .260/.388/.470 with five home runs and 16 RBIs. To replace him, the club recalled top prospect Rafael Flores Jr. from Triple‑A Indianapolis; Flores had appeared in two games earlier in the season and is batting .228/.362/.342 at Triple‑A. Rodriguez joins shortstop Konnor Griffin, first baseman Spencer Horwitz and outfielder Oneil Cruz, who are also sidelined with injuries.
