Pittsburgh Pirates sign six 2024 draft picks, including five pitchers

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced the signing of six players selected in the 2024 MLB First‑Year Player Draft. Assistant general manager Kevan Graves confirmed the deals for five pitchers—Ryan Marohn (5th round, NC State), Tyler Fay (6th round, Alabama), Bryson Moore (7th round, Florida State), Alex Overbay (8th round, Arizona State) and Michael Gibson (10th round, The Citadel)—and third baseman Tre Phelps III (9th round, Georgia).

Marohn posted a 6‑1 record with a 3.18 ERA and 62 strikeouts in eight college starts; Fay was 11‑5 with a 4.54 ERA and 127 strikeouts; Moore went 6‑2 with a 3.86 ERA and 65 strikeouts; Overbay finished 1‑3 with a 5.79 ERA and 50 strikeouts; Gibson recorded a 5‑2 record, 10 saves, a 5.26 ERA and 73 strikeouts. Phelps hit .348 with 19 homers and 59 RBIs and earned All‑SEC honors. All six signees have been assigned to the Florida Complex League.
