Pittsburgh Steelers announce 2026 game themes and off‑season roster changes

The Pittsburgh Steelers unveiled the schedule of themed games and special events for the 2026 NFL season. Highlights include a Hall of Honor ceremony against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 27, with the Hall of Honor dinner on Sept. 25 and the class announcement on Aug. 1. Other events are the Crucial Catch matchup versus the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 11, the charitable “Steelers Style” fundraiser on Oct. 9, the Spooktacular Halloween celebration on Oct. 20, a Salute to Service game against the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 1, and a My Cause, My Cleats contest against the Houston Texans on Dec. 6, which coincides with an alumni weekend and dinner on Dec. 5. The season will open at home versus the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 13, and additional themed weeks are planned throughout the year.

In off‑season roster moves, the Steelers signed wide receiver Levi Wentz, a former Old Dominion and Albany player who transferred to Kansas and posted 258 receiving yards with two touchdowns in 2025. The team released linebacker Daylan Carnell and punter Aidan Laros. Punter Cameron Johnston remains the sole punter on the roster after a competition that left Johnston as the clear favorite, with the team indicating no immediate plans to add another punter during camp.
