Pittsburgh Steelers lock up LB Nick Herbig with $100M extension
The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed outside linebacker Nick Herbig to a four‑year contract extension worth up to $100 million (reports list $103.67 million) that includes $42 million guaranteed, keeping the 24‑year‑old in Pittsburgh through the 2030 season.
Herbig, a fourth‑round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, posted a career‑high 7.5 sacks in 2025 and has recorded 16 sacks, 79 tackles and one interception in 45 games. He told reporters, "It’s my desire to be a Steeler for life," adding, "I’m a team guy. There’s no starters and backups. I’m a Steeler."
Head coach Mike McCarthy praised Herbig’s communication and work ethic, noting the deal adds to the Steelers’ heavy investment in edge rushers alongside T.J. Watt (approximately $32 million cap hit) and Alex Highsmith (around $20 million). The extension underscores the franchise’s strategy to build a deep, versatile pass‑rush group.
