Pittsburgh Steelers rookies impress in preseason debut

Pittsburgh Steelers rookies Kaden Wetjen and Germie Bernard delivered standout performances during the team's preseason debut against the Green Bay Packers at Acrisure Stadium.

Kaden Wetjen, a fourth-round pick, showcased his speed by catching a 74-yard slant pass from rookie quarterback Drew Allar. Despite nearly tripping during the play, Wetjen outran the defense to nearly reach the end zone, providing a glimpse of his potential offensive role beyond special teams.

Germie Bernard, a second-round selection from Alabama, emerged as a strong contender for the third wide receiver position on the depth chart. Bernard led the team with five targets and four receptions for 51 yards. His most notable play included a 25-yard reception where he utilized strength and agility to break two tackles and secure a first down.
