Pity Álvarez hospitalized during homicide trial in Buenos Aires
Musician Cristian “Pity” Álvarez suffered a medical emergency during a court hearing for the 2018 homicide of Cristian Maximiliano Díaz. During the fifth session at the Tribunal Oral en lo Criminal y Correccional N° 29 in Buenos Aires, Álvarez experienced high blood pressure and hyperglycemia, a complication of his diabetes. The incident occurred after he requested to use the restroom and failed to return to the courtroom.
Following the episode, Álvarez was treated on-site and subsequently transported by ambulance to Hospital Fernández. Defense attorneys noted that the musician has ongoing substance consumption issues, with reports suggesting he may have consumed cocaine and morphine. The court suspended the hearing, which is scheduled to resume on Monday, September 7.
Separately, the rugby community in Argentina is organizing demonstrations under the slogan “JUSTICIA X FEDE” ahead of the trial for the murder of former Pumas player Federico Martín Aramburú in Paris. The trial is set to take place in France between September 7 and September 25.
