Partido Cívico Obras announces support for Keiko Fujimori government

Deputy Jenny Samanez of the Partido Cívico Obras has confirmed that her parliamentary group will support the government of President Keiko Fujimori. Samanez stated that the decision follows instructions from party leader Ricardo Belmont.

The move is intended to address national concerns regarding political instability, as Belmont noted that citizens are “aburrida de tanta pelea” (tired of so much fighting) within the political sphere. Samanez emphasized that the party aims to provide legislative support for critical issues, specifically mentioning the need to address the El Niño phenomenon and combat crime.

While the Partido Cívico Obras maintains an alliance with opposition parties such as Partido del Buen Gobierno and Juntos por el Perú to lead the Chamber of Deputies, Samanez described their stance as “constructive opposition to the government, but not to the country,” suggesting a willingness to work together for national interests.
