Pivašiūnai hosts Žolinė festival at Ilgio Lake

The Žolinė festival was held on the evening of August 15 near Ilgio Lake in Pivašiūnai, drawing residents and visitors from across Lithuania and abroad. The event featured a blend of religious tradition, music, and community activities.

Local officials, including Alytus District Vice Mayor Aurimas Truncė and Pivašiūnai Elder Algis Marcinkevičius, addressed the gathering, emphasizing community unity and mutual respect. The celebration included the presentation of awards for the ‘Pivašiūnai Eldership in Winter’ photography competition.

Educational workshops allowed attendees to learn traditional crafts, such as hay bird-making and grass weaving. The festival also hosted a trade fair and various attractions for children. The musical program included performances by the dance group ‘Gojelis’, the vocal group ‘Aksomas’, the folk music ensemble ‘Klėtis’, the group ‘Kitava’, and a concert by Adomas Vyšniauskas and his live band, concluding with a fireworks display.
