Pivašiūnai to host Žolinės pilgrimage and Diocese centenary

The Žolinės pilgrimage in Pivašiūnai is scheduled to take place from August 14 to August 22. This year's event is particularly significant as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Kaišiadorys Diocese.

The festivities begin on the evening of August 14 with a youth program and Holy Mass. The main feast day, celebrating the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, will occur on August 15. This central day will feature a joint choir from the Kaišiadorys Diocese and the Birutė ulon battalion orchestra, with the Mass being broadcast live by LRT television.

The nine-day program includes dedicated days for various groups: August 16 for families, August 17 for Caritas, August 18 for prayer groups, August 19 for priests and monks, and August 20 for the military, police, and the memory of Blessed Teofilius Matulionis. August 21 is reserved for educators and catechists, while the event concludes on August 22 with a day dedicated to the sick, the disabled, and medical professionals.
