Brazil's financial landscape shifts through Pix and embedded finance

Brazil is experiencing a significant shift in its financial landscape, driven by the massive success of the Pix instant payment system and the rise of embedded finance. Pix has revolutionized digital commerce, processing nearly R$35 trillion in 2025 and facilitating financial inclusion for millions of previously unbanked citizens. The system's infrastructure is evolving to handle increasing transaction volumes, with expectations to reach up to 10,000 transactions per second.

At the FEBRABAN TECH 2026 event, industry leaders discussed the convergence of retail and finance. Non-financial companies are increasingly integrating credit, cards, and digital payment solutions directly into their customer journeys. This trend is supported by a surge in banking technology investment, which is projected to reach R$50.4 billion in 2026.

Furthermore, the digital transition is expanding into public services, such as the Poupatempo program in São Paulo, which now accepts Pix for essential administrative fees. Even as digital payments dominate, companies like Prosegur Cash are developing solutions to bridge the gap between digital and physical currency, such as allowing cash withdrawals via Pix QR codes. Meanwhile, the international expansion of domestic payment models remains a key focus for global payment leaders.
