Disney and Pixar have officially announced a sequel to the Academy Award-winning film ‘Coco’, scheduled for release in November 2029. During the D23 fan convention, the studio revealed the first visual of the protagonist, Miguel, who is now depicted as an adolescent rather than the twelve-year-old seen in the 2017 original.
Benjamin Bratt will reprise his role as the antagonist, Ernesto de la Cruz. The plot will involve de la Cruz seeking vengeance against Miguel, whom he holds responsible for the destruction of his career and legacy. This conflict is expected to lead the protagonist back into the Land of the Dead.
Lee Unkrich will return to direct the project, working alongside co-director Adrian Molina and producer Mark Nielsen. The character Dante, Miguel’s loyal dog, is also confirmed to return.
