Pixar announces ‘Ghost Market’ original film for 2028 release
Pixar has officially announced its upcoming original feature film, ‘Ghost Market’, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 10, 2028. The announcement was made by Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter during the D23 fan event.
Inspired by Asian myths regarding supernatural bazaars where the living and the dead interact, the story follows Kyle, a fast-talking teenage content creator from Chicago. The plot centers on Kyle’s family vacation to Hawaii, where he discovers a mysterious hidden market that serves as a crossroads between the worlds of the living and the dead.
The project was originally developed as a series for Disney+ but was later retooled into a feature film. Trevor Jimenez, a Pixar veteran known for the Oscar-nominated short ‘Weekends’, is set to write and direct. This release will join ‘The Incredibles 3’ as part of Pixar’s 2028 slate.
In addition to film news, Disney revealed updates for its theme park attractions at D23, including new exhibits at the Walt Disney Imagineering Horizons pavilion featuring models for the upcoming ‘Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent’ and updated ‘Disney Believe’ displays.
