Pixar reveals new art for upcoming film Gatto at D23

At the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Pixar Animation Studio shared new art and details regarding its upcoming original film, Gatto. The movie is set in the canal-filled city of Venice, Italy, and follows a black cat named Nero who becomes entangled with a local feline mob boss named Rocco.

Directed by Enrico Casarosa and produced by Andrea Warren, the film features an animation style described by Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter as a “living painting,” intended to capture the handmade texture of Venice. Gatto is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on March 5, 2027.
