Pixbet partner arrested in Operation Arena investigation
The Federal Police have launched the second phase of Operation Arena, targeting the betting company Pixbet for suspected financial crimes. During the operation, Diomar Tadeu Dantas de Farias, a minority partner holding a 30% stake in the company, was arrested in the southern coast of Paraíba.
Investigators are examining allegations of money laundering, foreign exchange evasion, and tax offenses. The probe focuses on the potential use of offshore companies and complex financial structures to conceal and move funds derived from gambling and sports betting. Authorities are specifically looking into the acquisition of crypto-assets and the exchange of remittances between Brazilian and foreign entities to evade taxes and hide assets.
Financial movements under investigation are estimated to have exceeded R$ 2 billion between 2022 and 2025. In addition to the arrest, the police executed several search and seizure warrants in cities including João Pessoa and Campina Grande, and implemented measures to seize assets.
