Piyush Goyal calls Indian-Americans a ‘living bridge’ to the US
Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal described Indian-Americans as a ‘living bridge’ between India and the United States during a visit to Chicago. Addressing the Indian community, Goyal noted that their contributions to American society have helped bring the two nations closer together.
Goyal urged the diaspora to remain dedicated and loyal to the United States, which has provided them with opportunity and prosperity, while also maintaining a connection to their motherland. He referred to members of the community as ambassadors for India within the U.S.
During his visit, Goyal also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial sculpture in Skokie, Illinois. He reflected on Gandhi’s principles of non-violence, simplicity, and truth, noting their enduring influence on humanity and their impact on American thought. He further reaffirmed that the Indian government remains committed to supporting its citizens abroad during times of crisis.
