Piyush Goyal invites US companies to expand investment in India
Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met with senior executives from several major American companies in New York to encourage increased investment and strengthen bilateral trade relations.
During the meetings, Goyal engaged with leadership from Blackstone, including President and COO Jonathan Gray and Chairman of International Private Equity Prakash Melwani, to discuss expanding investment and partnerships across various sectors in India. Discussions with New York-based New York Life and Neuberger Berman focused on deepening cooperation in financial services and wealth management.
In the technology sector, Goyal met with IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna to explore enhanced participation in artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, and quantum computing. Additionally, meetings with Estée Lauder Companies CEO Stephane de La Faverie addressed opportunities in India’s growing beauty and personal care market, specifically regarding manufacturing and local sourcing.
Other high-level discussions included sessions with MetLife, General Atlantic, and AIA Group to explore opportunities within the insurance and financial services industries.
