Piyush Goyal urges Indian youth to embrace AI and emerging technologies

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has encouraged Indian students to develop expertise in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and other emerging technologies to drive the nation's economic growth. Speaking at the Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) Centenary Conclave, Goyal addressed concerns regarding automation, stating that artificial intelligence may create more jobs than it replaces in India.

While acknowledging that the transition to AI-driven workplaces may cause short-term uncertainty as roles are redesigned, Goyal emphasized that the technology will change the nature of employment rather than simply reducing it. He urged the younger generation to move beyond being mere adopters of technology to becoming developers of innovative solutions, such as AI agents and cybersecurity experts.

The minister linked these technological advancements to the 'Viksit Bharat 2047' initiative, which aims to transform India into a developed nation by its centenary of independence. He highlighted that investments in manufacturing and workforce development are essential to strengthening India's position in the global economy.
