PKB inaugurates smoke-free house in Pekanbaru for forest fire victims

Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), has inaugurated a ‘Smoke-Free House’ at the Dar El Hikmah Islamic Boarding School in Pekanbaru, Riau. The initiative aims to provide relief to residents and students affected by forest and land fires (karhutla).

The facility was delivered through PKB Member of Parliament Mafirion. The boarding school is scheduled to host the National Santri Day (HSN) commemoration on October 22, 2026. Mafirion stated that while the day is a celebration of the contributions of students to the nation, the party must provide tangible action to address the health impacts of smoke caused by ongoing forest fires.

In addition to the new facility, masks are being distributed to help minimize the negative health effects of smoke on children and the surrounding community during upcoming activities.
