PKO BP shares hit record high as Zabka Group faces Couche‑Tard takeover bid
Polish bank PKO BP saw its share price climb to a historic 113.44 zł, driven by strong quarterly and half‑year results and the prospect of a 6.14 zł dividend for purchases made before 5 August. The stock later fluctuated around 112–113 zł.
Convenience‑store chain Zabka Group became the focus of Canadian retailer Alimentation Couche‑Tard, which announced a planned 100 % cash offer for the company in August. Zabka reported solid quarterly earnings, with its share price closing at 29.26 zł before falling to 27.40 zł after the news. The market rally was supported by a modest cut in Polish interest rates, an improving economy and the resolution of Swiss‑franc loan provisions for banks.
