PKP Intercity announces 25.4 billion PLN railway infrastructure investment
PKP Intercity is launching an extensive technical infrastructure development program across Poland as part of a 25.4 billion PLN investment strategy for the 2025–2030 period. The plan aims to increase maintenance capacity for rolling stock and traction equipment, optimize operations, and prepare the company for service expansion.
Key projects include the construction of comprehensive maintenance facilities in Poznań and Bydgoszcz, with additional major works planned for Wrocław and Katowice. In Poznań, a new maintenance point near Kolejowa Street is being designed to include inspection halls, repair stations, washing facilities, and photovoltaic installations. This facility is expected to operate 24/7, providing services such as diagnostics, cleaning, and seasonal climate control for carriages. Implementation is targeted for 2028–2029.
In Bydgoszcz, similar non-stop technical facilities are planned near Nadrzeczna Street to handle basic maintenance and current repairs. The tender for design documentation is expected in September 2026, with completion aimed for 2030. By 2030, PKP Intercity intends to have all category A and B parking stations upgraded to meet modern vehicle service standards.
