PKP Intercity investigates incident on Pendolino train

An investigation is underway at PKP Intercity following a conflict on a Pendolino train traveling from Warsaw to Wrocław on October 20. The incident, which began with a dispute over catering services in first class, escalated into a confrontation between a commercial executive director and train staff.

According to employee reports and service notes, the conflict started when a passenger—identified as a PKP Intercity executive—demanded immediate service after being informed of a temporary lack of cups. The situation worsened when the director confronted the train manager regarding a conductor entering the driver's cabin to deliver a beverage. The train manager alleged he was verbally abused and physically assaulted, being pushed back into a service compartment.

PKP Intercity stated that preliminary analysis of onboard monitoring does not confirm the allegations of physical assault. The company maintains the director's intervention was prompted by the presence of an unauthorized person in the driver's cabin. The incident resulted in the train manager being hospitalized in Opole and approximately 400 passengers being forced to transfer to other trains. Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak has requested a full explanation, noting that such disruptions are unacceptable.
