PKP Intercity expands rail connections and unveils new fleet design
PKP Intercity is expanding its rail services and modernizing its fleet. Starting December 13, the carrier will double the number of daily connections between Bielsko-Biała and Kraków, increasing from four to eight. Three of these daily services will also include stops in Żywiec. The fastest trains on this route are expected to complete the journey in 69 minutes.
Additionally, PKP Intercity has revealed the design for its new Coradia Max double-decker trains, produced by Alstom. The silver-colored fleet, which includes features like quiet zones, family areas, and vending machines, is part of a 6.9 billion PLN order for 42 sets. Production is scheduled to begin in January, with the first passenger services expected to launch between 2029 and 2032. These trains will be capable of reaching speeds of 200 km/h and are compatible with High-Speed Rail networks.
