PKP Intercity invests in Polish railway infrastructure and digital systems

Polish railway operator PKP Intercity is implementing a major investment and modernization programme focused on maintenance infrastructure and digital systems.

As part of its 2025–2030 development plan, the company is expanding its maintenance capacity to support a growing and modernized rolling stock fleet. The investment, valued at approximately PLN 27.8 billion (€6.4 billion), includes the construction of a new service centre in Białystok, the development of new facilities in Poznań and Bydgoszcz, and the modernization of existing technical bases in Wrocław and Katowice. The programme consists of major service centres alongside nearly 100 smaller projects at existing technical bases.

Simultaneously, PKP Intercity is working to replace its aging KURS 90 ticket sales system with a new platform designed to handle higher customer volumes and peak reservation periods. The new system aims to improve international integration with foreign railway reservation systems and increase resilience against external disruptions. Initial functionalities are expected to launch in late 2026, with full operational capacity targeted for 2027.
