PKP PLK addresses station announcements and tests new numbering system
PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. is addressing passenger experience issues through technical improvements and system testing. Following reports of inconsistent audio quality at the Pleszew station, where some announcements were difficult for passengers to hear, the company stated that it is monitoring the sound intensity levels. While new megaphones have been installed, officials noted that staff have been instructed on proper equipment use to prevent future discrepancies.
Additionally, PKP PLK is piloting a simplified platform numbering system to reduce passenger confusion. Instead of requiring travelers to track both platform and track numbers, the new method assigns a unique number to each platform edge. The pilot program began in Mysłowice on October 25 and is scheduled to expand to Milówka, Soli, Rajcza, Skarżysko-Kamienna, and Środa Wielkopolska starting December 13. The company will evaluate the effectiveness of this system based on passenger surveys and operational data.
