PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe completes GSM-R tests on CMK line

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe has successfully completed testing of the GSM-R system on the Centralna Magistrala Kolejowa (CMK). The tests verified stable communication connectivity at speeds of 250 km/h, marking a significant milestone in preparing the line for high-speed operations.

The successful completion of GSM-R testing allows the infrastructure manager to proceed to the next stage: testing the ETCS Level 2 traffic control system. The introduction of 250 km/h passenger services on the CMK is currently planned for the end of 2027, though an earlier schedule adjustment in September is being considered.

Ongoing efforts to upgrade the CMK aim to significantly reduce travel times between Warsaw and southern Poland, specifically between Warsaw and Krakow. Previous trials have already utilized Pendolino train sets to test high-speed capabilities on this route.
