PKR leaders affirm party resilience at national congress
During the PKR national congress in Melaka, party leaders addressed internal transitions and political challenges. PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar announced she would continue to support the party’s mission to strengthen institutions and build a fairer Malaysia, despite taking a leave of absence from her post to pursue further studies.
Addressing political stability, Wanita PKR chief Fadhlina Sidek asserted that the party remains resilient against betrayals and political maneuvering within the unity government. She emphasized that PKR’s strength lies in its grassroots members rather than political alliances.
PKR Youth chief Kamil Munim also spoke on the party’s organizational health, stating that defections to Rafizi Ramli’s Bersama party have not significantly weakened PKR. He noted that high turnout at the youth wing’s congress demonstrates continued grassroots commitment, though he acknowledged that competition with Bersama could impact vote shares in specific constituencies.
