PKS faction urges structural justice in Indonesia's agrarian reform bill

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has emphasized that agrarian reform must serve as an instrument for structural justice. During a plenary meeting of the Legislative Body regarding the Draft Law on Agrarian Reform Regulation, PKS representative Jazuli Juwaini stated that reform should not be limited to mere land redistribution.

According to the faction's position, successful agrarian reform must ensure legal certainty, rights protection, accountable supervision, and tangible benefits for the people. The policy should aim to address land ownership inequality, resolve agrarian conflicts, and improve community welfare.

Juwaini noted that land redistribution must be integrated with conflict resolution, rights restoration, and the provision of access to financing, production facilities, and business assistance. The success of the reform should be measured by the reduction of ownership inequality ratios and the actual improvement of public welfare rather than just the amount of land distributed.
