PKS Secretary General discusses Hatta’s legacy and Aceh stability

PKS Secretary General Muhammad Kholid has addressed recent political and social developments in Indonesia during the 81st Independence Day celebrations.

Reflecting on the legacy of founding father Mohammad Hatta, Kholid urged the younger generation to adopt Hatta’s principles of integrity and ‘qanaah’ (contentment). Following a visit to Hatta’s grave with PKS President Almuzzammil Yusuf, Kholid emphasized that Hatta’s intellectual heritage and moral consistency serve as a necessary counterpoint to modern transactional politics.

Separately, Kholid commented on the unrest during the 21st Aceh Peace Day commemorations at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, which involved the flying of the Bulan Bintang flag. He expressed confidence that the people and local government of Aceh remain committed to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). Kholid called for law enforcement to utilize persuasive and dialogic approaches to resolve the incident, stating that the situation should be settled peacefully.
