Pla d’Urgell hosts first regional meeting for senior centers

The first meeting of senior centers in the Pla d’Urgell region was held at the municipal sports center in Palau d’Anglesola, bringing together approximately 250 participants from 14 local centers.

Organized by the Pla d’Urgell County Council and local senior associations, the event aimed to foster relationships between elderly residents from different municipalities, share experiences, and build a more cohesive regional network. The initiative follows a year of increased support from the County Council, which included hiring specialized technical staff and promoting nearly one hundred activities.

Joan Talarn, President of the Diputació de Lleida, emphasized the essential role of older adults in community life, stating that they are “not the past, but the present of Pla d’Urgell.” Other officials, including Carles Palau and Núria Gil, highlighted the importance of creating spaces that encourage active aging and reinforce social bonds within the territory.
