pladis Holding Chairman Murat Ülker visits India for market expansion
Murat Ülker, Chairman of pladis Holding, recently completed a business and cultural tour of India, including visits to New Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Agra, and Kolkata. The trip focused on evaluating the company's expansion in the Indian market, where pladis has begun contract manufacturing and is seeing developments at its existing factory in Chandigarh.
In Kolkata, Ülker conducted field research with the pladis sales team to assess product positioning in local markets. He also met with the owners of Bhagvati Foods, a prominent Indian biscuit manufacturer, to discuss business opportunities.
Beyond business, Ülker documented the historical and cultural evolution of Kolkata, noting the city's transition from its colonial name, Calcutta, to Kolkata in 2001. He observed that this shift reflects a broader trend of "decolonization" within India.
