Plamen Abrovski opens Bulgaria's 2026 hunting season in Poçarnentsi

Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture and Food Plamen Abrovski officially launched the 2026 hunting season for migratory game on 8 August in the village of Poçarnentsi, Radomir municipality. The ceremony was attended by the local hunting‑fishing association Radomir, the hunting‑fishing crew Pchelintsi, Executive Agency of Forests director Stoian Toshev and representatives of the National Hunting and Fishing Union. Abrovski reminded hunters to observe shooting regulations and to exercise extra caution during the fire‑prone season, saying “let them be careful with fire; each hunter’s responsibility is vital for public safety and nature protection.”

He also announced forthcoming amendments to the Hunting Law that will introduce electronic verification and digital issuance of hunting licences, describing the move as “the future is digital.” The minister reiterated the ministry’s support for dairy and pig sectors and its intention to seek EU crisis‑reserve funds if needed. Permitted species for the season include quail, woodcock, pheasant, common buzzard and others, with strict controls on weapon handling and written permits required for all hunts.
